Jermaine Gordon
Aaron Parkinson is an absolute gem of an accountant, and such a nice guy. He spent so much time reviewing my accounts with me over the phone, before they were agreed and finalised. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for the service I continue to receive. Highly recommended.
Graham Price
I am extremely impressed with Ben Salisbury and The Accountancy Partnership's service. As a first-time self-assessment client, I was very late submitting my records and felt stressed about the process. Ben's professionalism and approachability was fantastic, he patiently guided me through everything to ensure my accounts were filed on time.

How do I become self-employed?
Self-employment means you work for yourself rather than someone else, but this only describes your employment status, not your business structure. To register the business with HMRC, you’ll need to decide how you want to be self-employed. For lots of new businesses this comes down to a choice between operating as a sole trader or a limited company, but there are other options too.
Choosing your legal structure affects the way you register and operate the business, and even the way you report and pay tax, so it can be daunting! Our team will explain the various options available so you can make the best decision for your circumstances. You can get in touch using live chat or by phoning us on 020 3355 4047.
Do I need an accountant if I'm self-employed?
Hiring an accountant to take care of your self-employed tax records and reporting requirements will often save a significant amount of time and stress compared to managing everything alone. You can contact your dedicated accountant directly for unlimited support whenever you have questions, or just need a little reassurance!
Their expertise and experience will help you save money in the long run, offering valuable insights and identifying potential tax savings using any allowances and relief available to you. We’ll even take care of things like leaving your previous accountant, and of course, we’re firmly on your side and ready to act in the rare event of an HMRC investigation.

FAQs
Self-employed FAQs
We provide Pandle Pro as part of our service, but we’re more than happy to work with you on any bookkeeping system you prefer to use.
This depends on what structure you use to register the business. For example, a sole trader will need to submit either a Self Assessment or MTD Income Tax return depending on the amount and source of their income, whereas limited companies must file a Company Tax Return to report their profits. All our accountancy service packages include your tax return as standard.
Not automatically, although it’s worth noting your details will be published online by Companies House if you decide to register a limited company, so your employer might find your information if they search for it.
Yes, as soon as we have all your details set up and ready, your accountant will reach out to arrange a call so they can get to know you and your business. You’ll be able to speak directly to them at any point throughout the year, too.
