Use our online leave entitlement calculator to work out holidays

Full-time employees in the UK are entitled to a minimum of 28 days holiday per year. Some employers will include bank holidays in this or offer them separately on top, or even offer additional days as part of their company policy, but this is the basic minimum for everyone.

Working out someone’s leave entitlement can be a bit tricky if you need to work out the pro-rate holiday entitlement. This is the proportion they’re entitled to based on how much they’ve worked during the year, which can be a bit different if they work irregular hours, are part-time, or if they join halfway through the year.

Our free calculator shows how much annual leave someone is entitled to based on their working pattern, using the basic 28 day entitlement as a starting point. The actual entitlement may be greater than this.

Use our online tool to calculate accrued holidays

Employees start ‘accruing leave’ as soon as they start working for a new employer, which means they are building-up a holiday allowance.

Your accrued annual leave can be worked out by multiplying the total entitlement for the year by the fraction of the year which has been worked. Let our holiday entitlement calculator do the hard work for you. It will work out what holidays are due to an employee whether they started, left, or both, during a leave year.
