This month we spoke to Neil Chinnock, Chief Administrator & Wood Turner of WoodCraft-Co LTD!
Hey Neil! Tell us about your business
WoodCraft, W-Co, WoodCraft-Co and The WoodCraft Company are trading names of WoodCraft-Co Ltd, and we trade online throughout the UK and the European Union via our website.
We are a small group of wood-turning hobbyists with many years of experience between us in a family-run business.
Our staff have a breadth of experience and expertise and are qualified in a broad application of wood-turning and customer care environments. We are specialists in selling unique, beautiful-looking wooden ornaments that have been turned on a lathe and get much pleasure in making wood-loving buyers happy.
We have enjoyed making our products, selling them through various channels, and shipping them to different parts of the world. All of our products are individually handmade; therefore, each is one of a kind.
What drove you to start your business?
A hobby which turned professional, and a gap in the market for unique, beautiful looking ornaments which have been turned on a lathe.
What particular challenges did you have to overcome in setting up your business, and since then?
We are still in the early days and on the verge of expansion but getting the best quality wood is a big challenge e.g. one wood type which is a customers favourite is Yew Wood, which is said to be about a thousand years old from a cemetery…

Why did you choose The Accountancy Partnership?
We needed a business to record our day to day financials and Pandle comes with TAP (which is a bonus) and to be able to directly input our financial transactions online is great, especially so when TAP can access Pandle. The cost of TAP is reasonable too and their customer services is second to none (no problems so far). Hopefully, we will be with TAP as our company grows in the years to come.
Have we helped you overcome any challenges, and if so, how?
TAP has helped the business overcome our financial responsibilities to date and our first year accounts were completed with ease. We feel confident that this challenge can be undertaken year on year without any worries.
What do you have planned for your business in future?
A new workshop/shop to expand our wood turning capability and retail presence in the high street. We are currently in the process of compiling an extensive business plan in order to help apply for grants to match our investment towards buying new tools and equipment to kit out the work/shop, etc.
