Hey Gary! Tell us about your business
We provide high quality wetsuit repairs for surfers, triathletes and all types of watersports enthusiasts. We repair wetsuits for individuals, surf schools and watersports centres. We’re unique in being trusted by all the leading wetsuit brands in the world, and we are the authorised wetsuit repair centre for many of them.
What drove you to start your business?
Bodyline Wetsuits was established in 1987 and has become Europe’s leading wetsuit repair centre. A true family run business with over 40 years’ experience in providing high quality wetsuit repairs to all watersports enthusiasts. Paul Chambers started the business and it is now run by his son.
What particular challenges did you have to overcome in setting up your business, and since then?
Continual price increases in materials, carriage costs and the cost of living are proving challenging. Our business continues to grow and demand has increased. We were located in the town and had a lot of foot fall through the door. However, we needed to move to a larger premises as business grew, which not only incurred more costs but forced us out of the town. We managed to build strong relationships with the leading brands and continue to maintain them.
We adapted to the market and decided to concentrate on repairs only rather than making custom made wetsuits. We are in a steady market but like many, the continual price increases in many areas do prove challenging.

What do you have planned for your business in future?
To promote reuse rather than replace. To keep repairing wetsuits to our high quality standards, improve our carbon foot print and sustainability by working with others to recycle wetsuits if they are beyond repair. To maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and brands.
