This month we spoke to Natalie Young, director, hypno-psychotherapist and yoga and Pilates teacher of Aurora Mind and Body Ltd, based in Swindon.

Hi Natalie! Tell us about your business

At Aurora, we’re all about balance. That means not just focusing on physical fitness, but also mind fitness. So many issues in the body crop up when our minds aren’t healthy and our minds also suffer when our bodies aren’t healthy. Taking a holistic approach to mind and body fitness, we provide a number of different wellbeing services to help you get mind and body fit.

What drove you to start the business?

I wanted to do something completely different to my day job. I was lacking a creative outlet and Aurora became one for me. I started with hypnotherapy and with time, my skillset grew so I was able to offer more services to my clients.

What particular challenges did you have to overcome in setting up your business, and since then?

Lack of time has been the biggest challenge. It’s not easy running a business when you already work full time. I’ve had to reframe how I think about Aurora – for me, it doesn’t really feel like ‘work’ because I enjoy it. Of course, that way of thinking brings other challenges too – it’s important to remember that I am running a business and everything I do must be viable, not simply for the love of it!

Why did you choose The Accountancy Partnership?

I was already with TAP before we incorporated so it was a natural choice to stay once we became a limited company. I chose TAP due to their value for money services and I know if we ever need help with a tax enquiry, it’s all included.

Have we helped you overcome any challenges, and if so, how?

TAP helped us decide whether to stay sole traders or become a limited company. This professional guidance was hugely helpful to understand the pros and cons of each option.

What do you have planned for your business in the future?

I’ve recently completed my Personal Training qualification so we’ll be offering more of that to our clients in the near future! Nick (my co-director) is already a PT so having both of us able to offer PT services means we can greatly expand that part of our business. I have also qualified in Hypnobirthing within the last year and have also signed up for a Hypnotic Fertility Practitioner course so I will be well placed to offer help to clients wanting to start a family.
