Staff Spotlight: Lily Compton, Accounts Semi-Senior

Give an overview of the duties, functions and responsibilities of your job.

It’s my responsibility to prepare my clients’ year-end accounts for submission to HMRC and Companies House. I also have to prepare and submit VAT returns, Self Assessments, and be able to answer any general queries from clients.

What is a typical working day like for you?

First thing in the morning I will catch up on any emails and respond to clients. I will then work on any annual accounts, Self Assessments or VAT returns in order of priority, and answer any client calls or emails throughout the day.

What are some of the biggest challenges faces by your clients?

Payments on Account are a real issue for clients.

What is your favourite part of the job?

Probably getting to talk to different clients as we get to work with all different types of businesses.

What do you like most about working for The Accountancy Partnership?

The office dogs.

What skills do you find most useful to do your job?

Being organised and working efficiently definitely help with manging client deadlines.

Where’s your favourite place to visit on days off?

Going to see my horse Harvey or taking my two dogs for a walk.

How would you colleagues describe you?

Ben Warren said “a fantastic colleague”. I’ll take that.

What are you reading/binge watching at the moment?

Currently watching The Mentalist.
