Staff Spotlight: Sarah Orrell, Payroll/Admin Assistant

Give an overview of the duties, functions, and responsibilities of your job.

I help clients get their payroll services set up and ready for our payroll team to start making submissions. My work involves helping our clients through the initial process, responding to queries via email and phone and ensuring our payroll clerks have all the information and details they need to take over.

What is a typical working day like for you?

I usually start my day by responding to clients’ queries via email before moving on to whatever weekly check I have for the day. Each day can vary, some days will be more email focused, whereas some days will be more task focused.

What particular challenges do you regularly encounter?

Relying on receiving information from third parties, particularly HMRC. If we are waiting on receiving any details/information from third parties, it can cause delays beyond our control for our clients.

How are you able to use your skills to solve problems for your clients?

By being pro-active and requesting any necessary information along with follow ups to ensure we can get this information as quickly as possible.

What is your favourite part of the job?

Working with people who are so knowledgeable about the role. I enjoy learning something new each week from my colleagues.

What do you like most about working for The Accountancy Partnership?

The people.

What skills do you find most useful to do your job?

Being organised. It really helps to be able to plan your day in order to achieve everything you set out for the day.

Where’s your favourite place to visit on days off?

Dibbinsdale nature reserve, for a picnic and a walk.
